Well, Sinyacinthe... here we go. It is symbolic of the Biblical beginning. The 3 eyes represent the Trinity. The crown = the King... the woman turning into the bird represents the female aspect of God, the bird is the soul... so basically the bird represents the "birth" of the human race (egg in crown too) Uh... lets see... the wing points toward the lighter side of the canvas (and then there was light) and the cross around her neck represents the sacrifice that would be necessary. DaDa! A lot of stuff in a simple painting

I love brown eyes. I always loved bird-people too. The color of the background is magnificant too, but the landscape seems to be a a solitude. What's the story for this picture? Why is it called "In the Beginning"? Makes one think of the church too. But in the beginning was (supposed to be) the word and not...sight?
