I love both 'Elizabeth' and 'Elizabeth: The Golden Age'. The portrayal of the queen I thought was not only accurate, but sort of...heart felt and evoking. I think this painting captures the same sorrow she might have felt as well as the divine presence she seemed to give off (considering she had a cult or two dedicated to her as a Virgin Mary like Goddess).

It was known as the Golden Age, the age of Elizabeth, the Elizabethan years... etc etc etc... ♥

Thanks! It's a well-executed piece considering in my own personal experience, even when I thin it out with turpentine, using oils is like painting with mayonnaise...

Mayonnaise? Why I use the water soluable oils... they thin out like water color if you like. However, even in their natural state, they are quite thin and nimble on the canvas.

Where have I been? I had no idea water soluble oils existed. Thanks for the tip!

I really love this, your representation is wonderful. Oh and it's "The Golden Age," not "The Golden years."
