Description Practicing with facial expressions as I work on the comic. I'm not sure why I'm fixated with doing them for the Noops in particular, since it was usually the Urpneys that had all the wild expressions.

I really dig the Noops being more...cartoony, like you picture here. Especially Rufus and Amberly, who are the Dreammaker's apprentices after all and should be a little more...dreamy.

One of the coolest things in the series was how Rufus learning some of the Dreammaker's magic; it was cool seeing him be good at something besides slacking off and saving the day, and I kinda wish the series had explored that angle a little more. The question of why the Dreammaker suddenly decided to take an apprentice, that sort of thing. ...which is a bit of a trip from where I started but there you go.

Anyway, good work!

I think there was a lot of wasted potential with the Noops. Them learning magic may have been an interesting idea, especially since it seemed the magic using heroes were becoming more and more god modded as the show went on. The only problem with may have been that the Urpneys would have came off as even less of a threat (there were already episodes the heroes came off as 'bullying' them).

For some reason I always saw Rufus as a kinda eccentric spacey little guy, almost an embodiment of the dreams he's obsessed with. There were vague shades of this in the pilot, but for most of the series he was mostly just a standard kid hero (ie. inexperienced, a bit arrogant and dopey).

I remember an episode where Rufus made a fake Dreamstone out of bubbles and a song, which I thought was cool. Haven't seen the whole series. Good point about the Urpneys, though-I liked the idea that if Zordrak ever got an army of the little jerks over the mists of Limbo, everyone'd be in trouble since they are pretty decent soldiers who're forced to be spies and sneaks instead.

And yeah, I dig Rufus with more shades of the guy we met in the pilot.

It was an interesting concept, though I remember hating that episode, due to my aforementioned issue, with the heroes being much more sadistic than the Urpneys and trapping them in imagination walls to torture and mock them for half the episode.

He did actually, the first season finale, Megattack. A huge dramatic build up to Zordrak and the Urpneys invading... the Noops and Wuts neutralize them in less than a minute.

I feel that there was some difference in the creative team for the pilot. The show afterwards just gives the suggestion that writers didn't understand hero characters like they did villains.

I think they express more emotion in this pic then they ever did in the show : p

Thanx, as much of a shame that is (they did have some wild takes on rare occasions though).

I can imagine why; you can pause on a random frame of the Urpneys and find them making funny and expressive faces, while the Noops get like...maybe two or three such moments across the whole series. What's more fun? Copying what was already done well? Or picking up the slack for where it might have been lacking.

Lovely expressions all around. Top right Rufus and bottom left Amberly I think are my favorites, former for the difficult perspective, latter for the cuteness.

I admit that might be the reason. I'm a guy that likes messing with potential that wasn't used. The Urpneys were already utilized perfectly, so there's not much for me to add onto them. It's fun adding differents lights and traits to the more underutilized Noops however.

I thought the Rufus expression was one of my worst personally, I have trouble angling faces dynamically. Heh, had to do at least one 'puppy dog eye' shot of each of them.

I just love how these expressions came out. Seriously though, you draw cartoony expressions very well. It dosen't matter what character they are used for, they're very good regardless.
