Description
This is the First cover we did on Ben Reilly: Scarlet Spider. Khary wasn't a big fan of the original SS suit so to make him look a bit cooler he poped up his hood. You know cause everything looks cooler in hoods, Right? Do you realize in all the years this version of Spider-Man existed no one ever thought to put his hood on XD.

Notice that a lot of the Scarlet Spider series covers Khary and I did take place in NYC. When K and I took this project we had no idea the book takes place in Las Vegas and it wasn't till the cover of issue 20 this was made clear to us by editorial. I am not sure why this happened? These covers were kind of always in a mad rush every month and often we would get a cover description and it would be a day or two turn around for both Line art and color. Often finishing the day before or the day they needed to be submitted to Diamond. Looking back on these I am amazed they came out as good as they did given the quick turn arounds. But personally (not to toot our own horn) I think it is a testament on how good we are at our jobs we know how to hit home runs even with lousy pitches.

In editorials defense they were swamped with work and it was probably something that went unnoticed. Let's just pretend The New York-New York Hotel & Casino is a lot more NYC in the Marvel Universe that it is in real life

Another fun fact you will notice "Dusk" from the Slingers. Back in the late 90's I interned at Marvel when Slingers was launched. I knew the editors well and I assisted a lot. Probably, my favorite editorial office that I worked for at the time. Odd how things come full circle XD
