A life rift tears open above the forest and the sound of a thousand insects whisper through the trees. Suddenly the entire forest comes to life as the colossus you unleashed rises above the canopy, its tendrils and antenna seeking you out.

"its not the swarm I fear."

This is my entry for the RIFT create a colossus contest.
I have never attempted an insect before, so I was up for a challenge. I have also, coincidentally never made something of this scale, to this image was full of experimentation and it was quite a learning process.

I play rift and I was thrilled to participate in this contest.
Rift is a truly unique MMORPG that is artistically stunning and innovative in the genre.
I hope that my colossus does the game justice.

I used Corel Painter X and my Wacom tablet.
This image took about 3 days.
