Description
When I hit that 90% mark, I lose all motivation completely and find myself making plots of useless things using imaginary data instead.I wonder if Iām alone in this.

I took an art class in my last semester of college, and I know this feel. Especially since the class was four hours long and we all had to be doing some kind of work. So I ended up having to do two to four pics in one class. It was kinda worth it, but still.

I suppose it's not only about the artist's motivation. It's about any motivation at all.
Now my PhD is about 90% finished. And I almost hate it at this moment. While trying to make myself finishing it I wasting a lot of time, for example, browsing DeviantArt

yep, but then I find the uncompleted projects some time later and I finish most of them eventually XD

i agree, but im like yes im finishingand i get exited for finishing and next...like noooo something happend and im in the 90% and im think im in 100%

Not really, it's why i loathe painting since I cant' do it in 2 hr chunks I have to do it in roughly 10-18 hour chunks ot actually feel like i did anything at all and it's usually like 2 of those at least becuase painting just sucks.

Oh god, e1n, I know how you feel. D: Procrastination is like that shiny sparkly toy that you know is a freakin' trap but you go pick it up anyway because it's so shiny and sparkly. And then, a week later, you cuss yourself out for picking up the shiny toy.

For comics and art I totally agree.
Same for animation, only worse as during the 20%, 55% and 90% margin, your interest dips to 0, because...hey, animation takes a long ass time, right?

hnn my motivation always starts out OVER 9000!
but then half way through it sputters and dies
and then i put the project in my unfinished work stack

This is highly accurate. We know that the last leg of the race is when we're supposed to sprint our hardest, but that just doesn't translate to a project well.

You are not alone on that my friend... but for me it is more about the amount of time it takes to finish it rather than the percentage.

I agree. Projects that are ALMOST complete always make the slowest progress. I think it's because we've been working on it for so long and we just get so sick of looking at it. No?

Ha, so true. Except for me it's usually works of writing/RPG Maker games.
Also, at the 20% completion mark, my motivation is typically 1...%? Out of 100? I can't tell what to describe it as, as your graph lacks a labeled y-axis *trollface*
That's all because I get a new idea, work with that a little, then get another idea. I can't stick with anything. x.x

LOL This motivation plot is truth. Finally, I have a visual for my feelings during that last twenty four hours before a painting is due.... *commence tequila shots and dancing with easels*
