Sonambula = Black Canary (though I've since realized that Hawkgirl or Cyclone would've been better >_<)

Yes, but prior to Marvel using that name, the character was called Captain Marvel. It was only when the lawsuit DC filed against Fawcett, the original publisher of the Big Red Cheese that the name went unclaimed. And when Billy Batson's stories were revived, he could still be called Captain Marvel in the stories but the books had to use SHAZAM as the title back in the 1970's. It wasn't until 2012 that the character was officially renamed Shazam. But if we are talking about the JSA or Justice Society of America here, than Captain Marvel would be appropriate.

that is true. Also, even though they did it to avoid copyright, it would be somewhat confusing when somebody is talking about Shazam. Are they talking about the Wizard who bestowed the powers and abilites upon Billy Batson, or are they talking about Billy Batson himself? at least, with Freddie Freeman, he can still be called Shazam Jr.

Mistmane is cosplaying as Alan Scott, the original Green Lantern who has nothing to do with the Green Lantern Corps, and Alan Scott just so happened to have been co-created by Bill Finger, better known for the man who really made Batman, Batman.
