Guess who was listening to "Kingdom Dance" from the Tangled soundtrack on repeat while drawing this?!?!www.youtube.com/watch?v=chppF5…
I actually partially have my brother to thank for this (in a good way) since he LOVES Disney and watches these movies all the time.
But, to get to the heat of the matter, this is from the big party the two clans have right as Blaze is making his exit. The two griffs in question are Ilien and Flicker, cousins of the departed Ethad and Filigree, respectively-- and the direct offspring of the two chieftains themselves.
Their brief appearance will probably stay a one-timer, but feel free to add to their story if you wish!
On the chieftains' signal, the humans who are also taking part in the celebration go from sweet minstrel ballad to riveting Celtic reel. The bond these two young griffins forge could be a signal of what is to come, that the harmony between the two clans has been restored, and that they could, quite possibly unite to become one.
Their stunt above the fire I wanted to make something truly special. You know how eagles sometimes clasp their talons and do somersaults through the air for courtship? Ilien and Flicker are doing something similar, and while it may seem dangerous for them to both be flying on one wing each above the fire, the thermal column is actually holding them aloft, just like the candle flames of a Christmas windmill keep the blades turning. Only with the griffins, since nothing is holding them down, they rise higher on the thermal column.

I actually thought of that song too - it's a great track (I can't think of one from "Tangled" that I don't like), and it really fits this scene!
I hope we can see more of these two in the future, even if it's just a short story. They might not have known each other for very long, based on just this piece, but they certainly look like they're going to get along quite well with Clan relations improved!

This is awesome. I suppose you and I have differing tastes in music, I was imagining Redbone's 1974 song 'Come and get your love' playing during the aerial dance. I mistook Ilien and Flicker for Ethad and Filigree and jumped to a hasty conclusion with music.

I could see where the two couples could be mixed up; I tried to give them some familiar traits since they're family but not the same ones-- they've been tweaked a little. Filigree's markings don't go around her eyes like Flicker's do, and Flicker's feather braid is down the middle of her nape rather than off to one side.
I am still listening to "Kingdom Dance" on repeat while looking at this. I've found that I really can track the progression of the song through the sketches, starting with the minstrel ballad up until chieftains signal to pick up the tempo, then with everygriff else catching on and beating their tails to the music, the crescendo as the couple ascends around the fire and performs their daredevil dance, and another crescendo as they land and the music abruptly stops.

Simple misinterpretation on my part.
If the song works and and you can feel the beat, then by all means stick to it until the song ends and do it all over again.
