Description This is a class assignment from falls of 2017

Media: InDesign, PDF

Dimensions: 7"x7" page size, 20pg, 2.9MB

In this abstract shape book, comprised of 11 separate pictures that fill a 20-page book, I drew a simple shape that had aesthetic appeal. This shape is intended to represent free-flow rather than a distinct thought or rigid idea. Within the book, each of the 11 pictures used this design in some way as the core with the goal of illustrating various forms of symmetry, transparency, and negative space. Each design is constructed to have shape interlock and overlap, creating an abstract pattern that might inspire different imagery or emotions from each individual viewer without restricting their possible responses. Viewers variably have seen fire, deer, masks, birds, stars, and other images from this basic shape. Black is used as a basic monotone that could work with white to suggest negative space, as do the red, orange, and yellow. These last three colors were selected to create a sense of vibrancy without adding too much noise.

Was thinking "I'm getting some serious fire vibes from these" just as I got to the page with the fire-breathing-dragon shape

Heh, lot of shapes I drew for this and that was one the one that flowed the best, go figure as fire is one of my go-to element in symbolism. The teacher actually questioned if I should have added the dragon when I pitched the idea for the page but after seeing it, the teacher said it had to stay in the book with how I used that one shape to make it.

Yeah, it's really well done. Heck, the whole book is. The shape itself is really cool and you made good use of it
