Moffat ALSO said that the Doctor's only true relationship is with the TARDIS. And don't forget that River Song is coming back (wish I could).

All that said, Matt is awesome, and so is Karen.

Oh, don't remind me. ): I can't stand River Song.

But my theory is that the Doctor has such a deeper emotional depth than a normal human being, what seems like a deep connection to a human would seem like a relationship on a lesser level to a Time Lord. Just a theory.

Interesting. In the 90s novels, it was suggested more than once that the difference between a Time Lord and a human was not unlike that between a human and a dog/cat.

Wow. That would make a lot of sense.

Although I'll always cling to the belief that he can care for someone just as deeply as he does for them. I'm definitely a next generation Doctor Who fan. I've heard mixed opinions about the old show, and I'm guessing you've seen some of it, is it any good?

Well, as ardent a defender I am of the old show, and as much as I like to separate it from the new, it is true that each Doctor is his own "era", same goes for new head writers giving their own feel. So, just as the Moffat/Smith era is different from RTD/Tennant, so each "chunk" of the old show has it's own feeling.

I grew up with the old show, starting with the Fourth Doctor (or "Four" as the kids would say it now. God, I feel old.) I went back and caught up as best I could.

In the old series, Gallifrey was still standing (though it wasn't until the end of Two's tenure that we found out the Doctor's people were Time Lords, and it wasn't until Four's tenure that we learned that their home world was called Gallifrey). What we did know was that they were isolationist, aside from occasional renegades like the Doctor and the Master, and one of the reasons the Doctor left was because he couldn't stand that lazy, non-involved attitude. The Daleks were a serious threat, yes; but the time war hadn't happened yet (though some might argue that Seven's Dalek story was the opening shot in that war.)

Then there's the TV Movie, which in retrospect feels like a weird bridge between the old show and the new.

But eh, I'm rambling. Bottom line, it depends what aspects of the old show that you've stumbled across that interest you. If you like Sarah-Jane, then I could point you at episodes that she was in with Three and Four, for example. You Tube is littered with clips from the old show as well as the new. A particular thing to look at, if you haven't seen it already, is Time Crash, a short episode written by Moffat wherein one of the old Doctors (Five) wound up in Ten's TARDIS.

I could go on all night; but there are places you can find old who stuff, on YouTube and elsewhere; Amazon sells old series DVDs; there are books as I mentioned, and the Big Finish audios, which make new stories for Five, Six, Seven, and Eight.

If there's a specific element of the old show that interests you, ask me and I'll do my best to answer.

Wow, you've really educated me on some Time Lord history. I watched Time Crash and really enjoyed it, and I think I'll spend tomorrow watching some of the old clips. Thank you so much for taking the time to give me all of this information. There really is a huge world behind Nine, Ten, and now Eleven.

Oh, being a Doctor Who fan for such a long time, what do you think of Eleven as compared to past doctors? Have you seen The Eleventh Hour?

I never had a problem with Matt, from the moment of his casting, the way some others did. The closest thing to a negative thought I ever had about him was, "A *pink* bow tie?"

His performance struck me as being somewhat like Two (the physical comedy), while putting his own spin on it. Certainly he grabbed me as The Doctor faster than Tennant did in 05. My worry is more to do with how much of RTD's changes Moffat is going to undo/fix. My guess is, not enough to satisfy me. But that won't be Matt's fault, nor will I hold it against him, anymore than I held RTD against Tennant.

See, I felt the same way. I thought he made a good Doctor because from what I've seen, he has that 'Doctor' feeling. (Not really sure how else to put it.)

How did RTD change the series from the original? What were positive and negative changes, from your point of view?

(I'm sorry if those questions are too big, you can stop humoring me if you'd like.)

I don't mind at all, but I think I'll start answering by PM so as not to take up space here.

I sometimes wish there was a companion without romantic tension. People even thought Donna was his wife. Lets have someone with no strings!
Although at least Amy and the Doctor appear to be similar ages

Really?!? I didn't see Donna/Ten at all!
I feel like Rose was the only companion where the romantic feelings were reciprocated by the Doctor, though.

Oh, neither did I, but other characters did.
Totally, but there was always a "does he love me? I love him!" vibe with both her and Martha . . . and Jack . . . and other people

You're not the only one. I went through most of the latter half of that episode thinking "omg they're CANON ALREADY." Moffat has actually stated in an interview that he believes that it would be much weirder for the companions to not be attracted to the Doctor. So I guess that pre-emptively makes all of the future Moffat-era companions canon with the Doctor?

Like, when she was watching him strip and had that 'that's really hot' expression on her face? I don't mind Amy/Eleven, but I don't think that they Doctor and companion should be canon unless they really fit that way. Like Donna/Ten would have been so bizarre. I really hope they slow it down a little, because I don't wan
