Description Caramel by CrispyChris , as seen in the top right corner of
This piece was created using the usual baltic birch plywood and my traditional black sharpie lines.  The slight blemish on the nose is a result of my dropping the piece on the rocks Whoops!

Caramel property of My Little Pony/Hasbro, the artwork belongs to and all the rest (whatever that is!), I guess it belongs to me.  So yeah, see those rocks in the image? They're mine. Doughnut steel

Thank you so much! I was really happy with the results on this one, CrispyChris 's style works so well in wood

But just how crispy IS it?  Also do you cut these vector or raster?  When I used my laser projector to engrave wood, not only did it take forever (4W and visible :C) but I did it raster.  This looks likely to be vector though.  Very nice.

At least Chris crispy I'd say, if Chris is some unit of measure (of which I'm unaware), that is

I'm still having trouble imagining how you do engravings with a visible laser.  Seriously, you need to find me a video or something So cool! But in answer to your question: Actually, both!  I convert all raster images into traces, which are technically vector, but the print driver translates any filled shape into some density of dots.  The lens assembly moves back and forth like an ink printer until the entire area is engraved, so that artwork is technically "raster" at that time due to being pixel based.
All of the lines, on the other hand, are vector.  The lens assembly just traces the path of the strokes in the design.  Low intensity for inside lines, and full power for the outside shape.

(The thought occurred to me that I've only worked with one brand of laser cutter, and only been around a local group of people that know how to operate one.  It's very possible that the terms we use are not universal.  Hopefully I'm close enough!)

I will find dem rocks and I wheel steel dem. You cannot stoop me! That aside, looks wonderful man. I could really see you selling these little things at a con one day. People would go crazy for them. They're flat out amazing.

Oh you better watch yo self! I'm prepared to defend dem rocks
And thanks! I've currently got my eyes on Babscon in April (fingers crossed!)  I'd love the opportunity to go to a convention!  Even if people don't buy my stuff, I'd love to be around all the other artists and pony fans

Dude, I would totally suggest going to Babscon. I went to Trotcon this past year and it was one of the best things I've ever been too. So many bronies in one area is too much for the mind to comprehend. lol Can't wait until July for the next one. lol And I'm totally sure people would buy those things up if you made them. They're pretty epic.

Oh, Trotcon eh? Nice! You're getting me hyped rekibob!! XD  Going to a convention's been something I've been wanting to do since becoming a Brony, and I'm glad to hear it's a great experience

If you go to Everfree in May we could probably meet up... and I could show you some seriously powerful visible lasers... Maybe ;3

Oh, that would be so fun! Seeing your lasers would be seriously cool
If I go to Babs though, Everfree may be outside of my budget  Hopefully that's not the case, though!

I can guarantee they'd be the most powerful visible lasers you've ever seen!  About 15,000mW each in total...Two of them~

Have them?  I wish... They have a price tag higher than my house.  Help build them?  Sure.  Borrow them?  Sure.  Play with them to my hearts content?  Absolutely... but I'm nowhere near owning one.  To give you an idea.. it's around 60,000 for a completed unit.  Here's the price tag for the red laser ALONE

(Heh, looks like it's strike two for me)

And th-those are really. freaking. expensive! 10 times as much as I would have expected.  These are clearly on a completely different level then the lasers I was imagining in my head.
If you don't mind my asking, what's your connection with the lasers then? Do you work for a company that sells them or know someone or something like that?

I'd like to call it affiliate.  But realistically I'm just great friends with the companies CTO and founder, as well as their lead designer.  I've done quite a few shows with their equipment, and have built up a reasonable amount of trust and reliability which has earned me the privileged to use their stuff!  You can see the laser fully built here and here powered up projecting some death rays .  They're quite the machines.
