I am a little bit early this week I know. But I wanted to get this week’s illustration put up because the video got put up over the weekend. This is another title card that I did for Brandon Tenold and his Cult Movie Reviews. And I had a lot of fun with this one. Any excuse to do a space background for me is a good excuse. I just love to do them. They can be some of the most eye popping imagery out there.

As the title of this piece alludes to, this is a card that is depicting Brandon, as the Turkish version of Flash Gordon. The one eyed monster is a killer Muppet that is in the movie. (Though now watching an actual clip of the monster from the review…I think it actually had 3 eyes. So I guess I failed there )

But other than that, I think I captured the costume and symbol pretty well. Hell, I was even able to cannibalize my chains from my Crater Lake illustration for this. (A big reason why I do everything in Adobe Illustrator folks).

The font is basically the old text style from the Flash Gordon toys of yesteryear. And the blow-dryer like gun…well that is actually based off a real toy that was marketed to kids back in the day. I know…looks sort of over the top doesn’t it.

Again, I was pretty thrilled with the end product. It’s super clean and colorful…..which is what I always strive for. And it even had a little bit of humor in it. Which is something that I tend to struggle with a little bit *sigh*.
