Description
This week's illustration I thought I needed to go back to a good old fashion kaiju. And knowing me...it's going to be a super obscured one.......This is Gororin. A kaiju that is a living cactus ball. His first and only appearance was from the Godzilla television show, Godzilla Island. (That one show Toho did, that was a bunch of their toy kaiju Bandai figures fighting each-other). Somehow that thing lasted 256 episodes. Though they were only 3 minutes a piece.
Anyhoo, this guy shows up and creates a lot of havoc. Despite his appearance, he is a pretty strong kaiju. Godzilla's heat ray has no effect on him. And he is able to fire off his needles like heat seeking missiles. In the end of his little story though he gets double teamed on by Angurius and Moguera. The spiky dinosaur holds him down, while the robot spays him with weed killer
Then the monsters proceed to boot his butt around like a soccer ball. Very humiliating....Yeah yeah I know. It's all very silly and really should not exist in the same realm as Godzilla. But he does kaiju fans. So deal with it
I just wanted to create a fun little image of the guy. I added the dancing Cactuars from Final Fantasy, and the praising Cacnea from Pokemon, to give the Godzilla monster this Cactus God feel. Silly, but all in good fun.

I should have added Pokey from Mario in their though lol. All I can think of though when I see Gororin is that Rawhide Song....

Ah Gororin. I think that kaiju was the only exclusive monster from Godzilla Island that is the most original, while the others were kinda just re-painted versions of already existing kaijus like Kumaso Gami.
I'm not a big fan of Gororin's design, but it is the most original exclusive kaiju for Godzilla Island.

Yeah, it is a monster that would certainly not work in a Godzilla movie that is for sure. But for a TV show like this...it works

I have absolutly no culture in Japanese Kaiju Flicks, I wish I had yours, but these funny dancing cactus dudes reminds me of "GREEN HORROR", a Story from a 50's Horror mag ( Fantastic Fears # 8, 1954, to be accurate) where a cactus becomes alive and kill people because he's in love with a woman and jealous of the men around her.

I should have added a Pokey. And even though I knew of the Digimon character...I was never much of a fan. And I would rather save Sabotendar for his own image. Because I do one image a week....(along with edit videos, work, and other things), I've learned that I have to really get to the meat of an idea for this pieces. Can't really just throw a whole bunch of random stuff together. It would take up way too much time. Have to find a main idea and then branch off. I've gone 3 months now; straight with weekly uploads.... O_0. Can't believe I have kept this New Years Resolution alive for that long.
Speaking of which though, I am having a slight problem with my next idea. It's about Hedorah and some certain evil bongs. (the whole 70's drug and pollution thing). My problem is with trying to get character expression out of Hedorah's face and eyes. He doesn't have a face so that is a no go. And his eyes are sideways. I don't know how to make them look expressive. They always just look so static and fake.

I was never much of a fan of Digimon. But I did know of his character. There is a bunch more cactus like things I could have put in here...but because I use the long ratio image size, it sort of limits what I can do. That and I got to slim down ideas if I am to pump them out one a week haha.
