Okay, I love mayans, I love the history of the spanish conquest and I love slash. Therefore, The Road to El Dorado made me squeal like a little girl. So loudly that the neighboring counties all heard and sent death threats. Indeed. The only scary part about the movie is that Miguel looks exactly like my brother @_@ I feel dirty slashing him. Which is why I instead write fanfics about Tzekel-Kan/Cortez and Tzekel-Kan/Tanni. Ya gotta love old snake face.Updated with a better scan, and I edited out the glyphs in photoshop due to horrible horrible grammatical errors I didn't know better at the time. About the only correct part were the words "Miguel" and "Tulio", and even those were only correct in terms of word-sounds. eh heh. whoops. Hey, I'm learning -_-;

oh shiiit. this movie came out when i was young as well, and so i had no concept of slash. Lol now though...yeah i can understand this pairing.
Even more so because supposedly they wanted to make them gay before the movie was published I heard. O_O I personally wouldn't have cared but...you know parents. Weirdos. ALSO. When watching this movie a few weeks ago, it struck me as more of a "adult's cartoon" y'know? like the humour was more mature.
ANYWAY Ive rambled enough. Im faving this. Its well drawn.

I always thought Muigel looked like Boromir from The Lord of the Rings. But then again I am a pervy Boromir whore. It's a really great picture!

The movie came out when I was quite young, so I never really considered slash when watching it.
However, I saw the movie again last week and spent the next couple of hours fangirling like mad over it and considering all of the crazy amounts of slash.
Eeee, that movie was amazing.

Books, mostly. I am a history dork when it comes to mesoamerican cultures, but learning a whole written language from a handful of textbooks is very hard o.< Three years later and I'm still not very good at it.
and fun fact: at one point in the movie's development, Tulio and Miguel were SUPPOSED to be gay. The idea was scrapped, of course; can't do that kind of thing in kid's movies without making a huge joke of it. Like in Lilo and Stitch.

I'm a bit like that, but I've been mostly focusing on the Aztecs. And not getting very far. Every book about them only focuses on the fact that they practiced human sacrifice, and ignores everything else about them.
Though I do love the Mayan hero twins myth.

that movie sent me sqealing all over the place too. and they do make such an adorable couple...i kept crossing my fingers and praying that they would somehow end up in a steamy kiss scene in any part of the movie, then it hit me that its another disney propaganda so that wish flew out the window.
shame to hear that miguel looks like your bro so it would be hard for you to visualize him in, ehem, yummy scenes. i bet you can find other cartoon pairing you can definetly enjoy.

If you like the Spanish conquest of mexico than you must be fond of the massive slaughtering of native peoples and the rape and enslavment of inocents o ya and lets not forget the spanish giving small pox infected blankets to the indian villages. Then again some people like that stuff
