Description Painted on 12th July and 13th July, 2012

Size: 16 inches x 12 inches

Oils on canvas

I think this is the lowest horizon I've ever put on a painting, but then it's all about the sky. It's good to have a painting finished quickly, the last few have been long, drawn out affairs!

Excellent use of the horizon - really amplifies the sense of scale and grandeur. It actually reminds me of the type imagery found within this book im currently reading.
How are the oil paints treating you? Fancy getting either the acrylics or oils out myself.

Well, Andrew, I've been at them six months. They're much more quality than acrylics. There's a real sense of depth and richness in the colours. With acrylics I'd be building up layers sometimes to get that right 'hit' in the tone or shade of paint I'd want. With oils I get it first time. So yeah, they're going well!
