Description
Another self-portrait, this time a more tradicional one compared to my manga page. I just wanted to feel comfortable coloring using paint tool sai, that's why I didn't make much of a lineart, so I just used a sketch.
didn't put a background in it either...

Hm, acho q se tivesses desenhado um background secalhar iria ficar mt pesado, mas talvez umas simples "manchas" d cor no fundo ficaria bem e equilibraria o desenho já q o shading está "pesado". Bom, ficou bom d qualquer maneira, gosto dos tons d cores q usas-te e o facto da pose estar dinamica e nao simples e d frente. Bom Trabalho

I just don't understand how other people are able to make/keep their pics clean :s (hmm...)
Traditional manga styles are so lively/personal looking, so its very refreshing to look at

manga is a style where the general approach from most artists is to use plain colours, cell shading (if you're skilled enough, full shading), the use of lineart, and this kind of simplification keeps things clean. If you're drawing realistically I can't give much useful tips unfortunately 
Before I started using paint tool sai doing this kind of stuff in photoshop was really tiring, but you can still do some tricks in ps, like using masks, vectors, etc. so make sure you explore those as well.

I sketch nowadays little more than 90% of digital works, though sometimes I rush too much or just have a bad day.
But yeah the photoshop is trusty companion, but the fun part of drawing stops pretty quickly when you have to do rendering and so on, but It really wasn't meant for drawing 
I have Sai on my "bad" but net accessing computer, but since its trial time stopped and I've lost my touch a bit, I haven't used it too much
I should give it another try while taking a breath from this photoshop work I'm doing

Mas tenho mesmo de dizer que se tivesse lineart, ou então menos traços/irregularidades na linha ficava bem melhor

Claro que ficava melhor com uma lineart razoável, mas como eu me sinto algo seguro a fazer isso e nunca tinha feito coloring no paint tool sai, decidi passar á frente o passo de fazer lineart para poder aprender mais de coloring, que é algo que eu raramente faço, e que devia fazer mais. Mas se gostaste da pintura e do sketch isso é ótimo

No, please don't take it that way XD I'm not actually that good looking in real life , also, my hair is completely different compared to what you see here. I might be blonde but my hair goes all over the place, so I siplified it a lot. I'm glad you find the portrait awesome though, it's just a pitty that the person who is based on is not that awesome XD

Thanks! When colouring I was mostly trying to find my own style for future works, but I'd be lying if I said I'm not pleased with it.

Yeah, it's a bit hard, change doesn't necessarily mean progress, as a change in your style affect how other people percieve your works, which can either be positive or negative. But working the same way every time isn't a good thing either. Variation makes things interesting after all. I tend to change a lot of stuff compared to my original style, but you might learn new things that way.

oh ye trying different drawing styles is interessting and a lot of fun, and in the end ur own style just gets mixed up with others which will make it unique :3
