Description Here's another same day painting I finished. I wanted to do a mermaid that very few artist draw and paint.

I wanted to do a mermaid that looked like she could in the deep sea and be tropical in a way. When i was looking online for references I saw this beautiful purple and gold tropical fish.

So I just had to do that for my mermaid.

I love her tail! From the little gap to the fins. The colors are very nice, they fit the deep sea perfect.

My main complaint here would be that her color values are too close to that of her background--she blends in too much, which loses the focus from her... If you could tone down the background, or at least drop the saturation down a bit around the figure, she will definitely pop and that lovely purple you've selected will stand out like it needs to...

Thanks I thought the background looked a little off in a way. I'll tone it down and hopefully get better results.

Excellent work, and an amazing design! The bioluminescence is really an underused visual effect in mermaids and the like, and its nice to see it used to such great effect! Well done!
