I'm glad to see someone tackle the Maiev Shadowsong Cosplay with serious dedication to an organic look. This looks amazing!
I am currently doing a lot of research in the weapon she uses and the techniques that it revolves around. I have a theory that it can be used with tonfa techniques and that at least one of the spikes is a kerambit with a finger-ring following Italian sword designs.

And here are some notes of speculation I made while I was working on taking apart the armor. These are probably not accurate at all, but I use them as a catalogue of pieces I need to research to make further comments on the armor and weapon.

One thing that I liked in the Samewise 2005 version was that the armor made the chest armor appear like an owl. It's a shame that none of the artists or modelers took up that hint when they based the WoW model on his drawing. It looks positively ugly because of it.
Much, much rather I would have your interpretation back.
One thing that I do like about the evolution of the Maiev evolution is that her crest evolved from a set of wings to "horns". The horns, as you can see in what I used to stand in for the Frozen Throne iteration in my timeline, they could have been the limb that holds the wing up, meaning that, after being captured by Illidan, Maiev's wings were "clipped". I think that's a neat piece of storytelling on Samwise' part.

Awesome ! I REALLY hope that you will do the Warcraft 3 mask because it's the way to go .. the wow mask it's horrible!! Hope you will do some shots with the armor on you when you finish it!

I think it's funny how at least 50% of artists I see working on Maiev artwork shows her with either no helmet or an open helmet, not the enclosed one. I haaaaate the WoW version. If you look at the evolution of the artwork, you can see how Samwise made a very simplified version of the helmet that makes it enclosed and none of the other artists seemingly looked back at the Frozen Throne artwork, which she was most known for, and instead kept using Samwise's drawing as a reference. And not doing it well, mind you. The weapon keeps being changed (even Samwise does this and it looks even less practical than before), they didn't pick up the hint that the chest armor was supposed to resemble the face of an owl and they iterated on the helmet and made it a hideous barbute design...
I absolutely hated that loading screen; it's hideous. >

Agree! The helmet was the main reason why I chose the warcraft 3 version, too much metal in the wow versionΒ
