"Nnnnnnggghhhhh....Damn alarm clock," Sasuke growled. He knew that in reality he should be damning Naruto, but the alarm clock was annoying and nearby.  Naruto had better not be nearby. At the moment Sasuke was tempted to commit murder. He lay in bed for a little while rememebring what they had done and wondering why he had ever agreed to go. He was completely lost in his thoughts until...
"OI! SASUKE! YOU BETTER GET UP OR WE'RE GONNE BE LATE FOR SCHOOL!" A loud voice hollered from out side his window.
Speak of the devil.
"Shut up dork! I'm coming!" Sasuke scrambled up and dashed to his dresser. Glancing at the clock he saw that he had about eleven minutes to get dressed and to school. Looking at himself he realized he still had leaves in his hair and dirt on his face from last night.
Damn it! Sasuke thought again.  He dashed to the shower and turned the hot water on. He jumped in and managed to get clean in a record two minutes. Running to his room he yanked his last clean uniform off of its hanger in his closet. Runnng out the door he grabbed his books and stuck a poptart in his mouth. He dashed to the gate of his property where Naruto was waiting.
"Jeez took you long enough." Naruto muttered as they started running toward school.
"Fshftupph" Sasuke grunted.
"Ha ha what the hell was that supposed to mean?" Naruto laughed.
Removing the poptart from his mouth Sasuke growled at him. "Shut up! It's your fault I'm running so late."
"No it's not. You didn't have to come toilet papering with me, Kiba, and Neji. You chose to come all on your own." Naruto replied, grinning.
"Shut up." Sasuke said again. " You would have made fun of me for a month if I hadn't, and you know it."
"Well yeah, but only because you're so fast and we needed you to ring the doorbell and run when we were done."
Just then the school came into sight, and the first bell rang. Crap! only three minutes left Sasuke thought, speeding up a bit. He and Narutuo dashed through the gates just as the second bell rang and they clanged shut.
"Whew!" Exclaimed Naruto, "Made it!"
"I didn't think you would for a minute," A boy with long brown hair smirked, walking towars them. He was violating the dress code with that hair, but noone ever said anything to him about it.
"Neither did I," said an exuberent Naruto. " We have to get to class quick so we can see Kakashi' sensei's face. I Bet he knows it was us that papered him!"
"Yeah, but can he prove it?" A boy with brown hair in disarray asked jogging over to them.
Neji looked at Kiba. "You just climbed over the fence in the back didn't you?"
Grinning, the boy with the a triangular tattoo on each of his cheeks nodded.
Sasuke shook his head. He had no idea how he ended up with these clowns as his best friends. Starting toward the school building he leaned his head back and sighed. At least there was one good thing about coming in late. He hadn't been screamed at by-
"SASUKE!!!!!" He heard about three seconds before a body slammed into him, knocking him to the ground.
He lay on the ground not moving, even when the body on top of his got up. He hoped that by feigning unconsciousness she might go away, or at least one of his friends might rescue him. It wasn't hard to lay still anyway, he was exhausted from the night before anyway.
"Sasuke?! OhMyGodIThinkIKilledHim!" The voice above him blathered. He closed his eyes and heaved a sigh letting his head rest on the cool concrete.
"Calm down Ino," Neji said. "Naruto, go check on Sasuke, he did go down pretty hard."
Naruto walked over to Sasuke and kneeled down beside him putting his head on the ground to see if he could make eye contact. Sasuke opened his eyes and gave Naruto his most pleading look, it said please get me out of this, I'm too tired to handle her today.
Naruto grinned wickedly and breathed, "You owe me big."
"Hey Kiba, he's unconscious help me get him to the nurse." Naruto grinned winking at Kiba, who immediatly got the message and grinned right back.
"He's unconscious?" Neji asked incredulous as he walked over to look at Sasuke, now supported between Kiba and Naruto. "Hey no he's no-ooowww! I see, yes he's out like a light." Neji covered up wincing where Naruto had kicked him swiftly in the shin.
"I should go too," Ino sobbed. "Its all my fault, afterall."
"NO!" Kiba yelled. "Oh I, um...I mean he, uh wouldn't want you to see him at such a weak time. You go to class, we'll be there soon. Why don't you tell the teacher why we'll be late?"
"Yes, yes of course," and she took off running.
When he was sure she was gone Sasuke stood up, straightening his jacket. "Thanks guys. Pizza on me? After school?"
They all nodded, heading for class. They were completely unaware that their whole performance hade been observed silently by a small boy with red hair, hiding under the bleachers.
Sasuke and Naruto walked into math about fifteen minutes later. Sasuke had a bandaid on his forehead (courtesy of Neji, for realism he said...) and Naruto was shaking with silent laughter.
"Oh you two showed up?" Kakashi asked as they entered the room. "I thought miss Yamanaka was just making excuses for Sasuke because she has a crush in him..." He paused as he took in Sasuke's appearance. "Wow, she really did put you through the mill. Nice band aid. Go have a seat." As the boys walked away he called to them, "Hey you two wouldn't happen to know who toilet papered my house last night?"
Sasuke froze waiting for Naruto's answer. He had to hear the goons story this time.
"Hmmm, toilet papered your house you say? What brand did they use?"
"What does it matter?" Kakashi asked.
"It doesn't, but I suggest you ask Zaku. You know that kid from the music department. He and his two freinds, you know Dosu and Kin? They were at the grocery store buying some last night. I saw them, because I had to buy toast."
"They sell toast at a grocery store?" Kakashi asked, raising his only visible eyebrow. The other and the eye beneath it were covered by an eye patch. Noone was sure what had happened to that eye but there were tons of rumors.
"Well I'm good friends with the people in the bakery so they always make sure to have a few pieces handy. I don't like bread, see."
"Uh-huh." Kakashi looked incredulous, but he knewhe wouldn't be able to prove the boys' guilt this time. Damn, they always got away with it! He wished that he could just once catch them. When they were enemies he had tried to bust them repeatedly for pranks, but had always just missed catching either one in the act of committing it. Now that they were best friends he couldn't even get into the neighborhead of proving them guilty. Their friends Kiba and Neji had clean slates too. It really boiled his blood. He would have liked to confront all four of them, but the other two had Iruka for english first period.
"Grrrr, fine! Sit!" He barked at them feling frustrated. They dashed to their seats smirking. "Class we have a new student, well not actually new, he has been to this school before, but was in the hospital for the last year. All of you please be kind in greeting Gaara Suna. You may know his brother and sister, they go here also but are older than you lot."
The door slid open to reveal a small boy wearing baggy black pants and a plain black hoody. He had pale skin and red hair. A small tatoo reading love on his forehead was just visible. He had seafoam green colored eyes but the shadows underneath showed that he didn't get much sleep.
"Okay, Gaara, how about you have a seat right there behind...eh damn sorry kid, but it looks like you have to sit behind Sasuke. Try not to talk to him or you'll be pulled right into his group. Watch out for Naruto too he sits next to you."
The boy looked up at Kakashi. In a quiet but sure voice he replied, "Thank you, but you don't have to warn me. Besides, I want to be part of their group. They're strong, smart and fun. I can tell most of the people here want to be them but have no hope of even talking to them." Without another word he quietly walked to his seat.
Naruto began to laugh, causing everyone in the room to look at him. Smacking Gaara on the back he said, "Not bad, kid. I like you, you've got guts, wanna sit with us at lunch?" Sasuke turned around grinning. Gaara looked at Naruto like he had just been invited to eat with god, nodding slowly.
"Alright!" Sasuke and Naruto yelled, slapping eachother five. "We've got a new member of our team! We don't usually let people join but you just made a great first impression." Most of the kids in the room were now eyeing Gaara with envy all over their faces.
Kakashi was staring agog at the three boys who were now grinning. "Thats's it time for class, open your books to page 354 NOW!"
After class the three guys headed to science. As they enetered the room they caught sight of Kiba and Neji already at their lab table.
Kiba waved and called, "Hey I heard about last period. Who's the new guy who somehow managed to get into our group on his first day? Some people have been trying for years and can't figure out how to get in."
"Hey guys! This is Gaara, he's small but totally rocks. He knows martial arts, too. He'll fit right in with us." Naruto laughed, giving everyone a thumbs up.
Just then Sakura walked in with Neji's cousin Hinata.
"Hey, Sakura! Hinata!" Naruto waved them over. "Hey ladies. Whats up?"
Sakura rolled her eyes at his antics. "Nothing. We heard about your new friend by the way."
Laughing he replied, "Who hasn't?" Sakura and Hinata were one of the few people taht Naruto's group actually talked to outside of itself. They were pretty cool to hang out with too.
Turning to Sasuke, Sakura asked, "Hey do you have any extra change? I left my purse in my car. I'll pay you back after school?"
"I, uh. um sure here," He fumbled for his wallet. He pulled out a fifty dollar bill and stuffed it into her hand. "Ke-keep the change!"
"Um Sasuke?" Sakura raised her eyebrows. "A five would probably work better. I don't have fifty dollars to pay back to you."
Blushing furiously he said, "Sorry, here." He handed her a five and took the fifty back.
"Thanks, well I'll see you guys later then," and she and Hinata walked  to their seats on the other side of the room, her pink hair standing out even from a distance.
"Nice," Neji snorted looking at Sasuke. "Could it be anymore obvious that you like her?"
"I do not!" Sasuke shouted loudly, causing many people to look at him strangely.
"Right," said Naruto, chortling. "The boy who can stare down the principal or knock out a gang leader with one punch can't talk to a girl."
"I can too," he insisted. Sighing he said, "Besides even if I did like her, she doesn't see me that way. So can we not talk about it?"
"Yeah, yeah fine," said Kiba. He turned to Gaara. "Hi I'm Kiba Inuzuka." Guesturing to Neji he said, "That's Neji Hyuuga."
"Gaara Suna."
Class started after that. Two periods later they were all finally free to go to lunch. The boys had just gotten their lunches and sat down, when two upperclassman walked up.
"Temari? Kankuro?" Gaara asked, perplexed as to why his sibling were there.
"Hey Gaara can we talk to you?" Kankura asked. Gaara noded and looked at the others. "I'll be back in a few." He got up and followed his brother and sister to an alcove by the door.
"What's up?" He asked.
Temari looked him up and down. "We're just checking on you, but I guess we didn't have to worry about anything."
"Yeah, how'd you get into the group of the most popular guys in school? I can't even get in." Kankuro grumbled.
"I made a good impression." Gaara said stoicly. His siblings didn't need to know how he'd done it. They could figure it out all on their own.
"Wow! I can't believe you get to hang out with them. They are all uber hot!" Temari gasped. Eyeing Neji as he stood up and grabbed Sasuke's pudding right from in front of him. She stared as Naruto grabbed Kiba and gave him a noogie while he others looked at them laughing. "I think Naruto is the hottest, but Neji is good two. "
"Right..." Said Gaara not much wanting to hear about his sisters crushes on his new friends. " I'm gonna go now."
He walked back to his table but his siblings followed him.
"Well, we'll be seeing you Gaara," Temari said waving at Gaara and turning to go, but she was stopped by Naruto's hand grabbing her wrist.
"You're Gaara's sister?"
"Yes," she replied breathlessly.
"Nice...are you as cool as your brother?"
"I don't really know if I can say that," she said trying to laugh at herself but failing.
"Hmmmm, maybe I'll have to hang out with you and find out sometime." He released her and turned back to his lunch, trying to punch Sasuke for drinking his milk.
Kankuro was just as shocked as he steared Temari out of the cafeteria.
Suddenly, Temari whipped around. "Kankuro! The coolest guy in school just flirted with me!"
"I know, I know." He was grumpy that they hadn't even looked at him. "Come on."
Gaara was surprised at Naruto. "You like my sister?" he asked him.
"Well she's hot, but I don't really know her. Why do you mind if I flirt with her?" Naruto asked in return.
"No I don't care at all, I was just surprised is all. Hell, you could date her if you want to."
"I don't know about that. We really did just meet. Maybe later though." Turning to everyone then he asked, " Hey, you guys going to Sakura's pool party tomorrow?"
"I thought we weren't going to any parties because we got like a hundred invites." Kiba said.
"Well yeah, but she's pretty cool and if we go more people will come to hers, she'll like that. Sasuke wants to go eben if he won't admit it. Besides I think it would be a good way to initiate Gaara. After all Kakashi sensei lives right down the street..."
"I'll bring the eggs!" Neji declared.
"Whipped cream!" Kiba called.
"Flour." Sasuke sighed.
"Great I got the ketchup and grapes!" Naruto exclaimed. "What about you Gaara? You in?"
Grinning Gaara said, "Definetly! How about vinegar?"
"AWESOME!" They all cheered.
