Description The doum gremloid's habitat is composed of groves of doum palms, including swamp doums surrounding Venazius as well as smaller oases scattered around Nueva Ibiza. They make their homes inside hollows within the trees and raise their litters there, rather than carrying them on their backs like other species. Females raise their offspring alone, as they get older and start venturing away from the nest she will teach them how to hunt and survive. Once they reach half a year of age, they are kicked out of the hollow to strike out on their own. They often travel from one grove or oasis to another over long distances in search of new territory, a vulnerable trip with a high mortality rate due to predation and exposure to the elements. The doum gremloid is more omnivorous than its relatives and feeds upon dragonflies, tree frogs, tree newts, eggs, and doum fruits. Being arboreal, it can also do a sort of sideways hop from tree to tree similar to a sifaka or bush baby. These gremloids can sometimes be seen playing in the water to cool down on especially hot days, or tucked into shady nooks and crannies to avoid the heat. They can be awake any time of the day although they lean crepuscular, preferring to hide within the shadows and shade of the trees in which they live during the hottest part of the day.
