Yeah I really didn't think they'd go for a full raid wipe but they did! It's still one hell of a movie. Probably my second favorite SW movie after Return of the Jedi.

Ahh, this scene gets to me a lot.
I admire how you redraw their pose and that background.

I'm glad they didn't try and force a romance. That wasn't what the story was about. It was far more fitting and poignant that at the end, all they really do is come to an understanding of one another, they make a connection. And I think that was far more powerful than any contrived bid at a throwaway love story between them, which would have been completely out of place.

I fully agree. I mean, I absolutely read fix-it fics where they survive and get together, but in the movie, they made the right decision. A romance would have felt really forced, and I like that they ended with a mutual respect for each other. I like the fact that they will always be a 'what if'--what if they'd had more time, what if they'd been able to escape, what if, what if.

I cried bitter, heartfelt manly tears watching them all die, but it was really the only way for it all to end. There's a reason you never heard about those brave fellows who found the death star plans *after* Rogue One.

"Thereβs so many stories where some brave hero decides to give their life to save the day. And because of their sacrifice, the good guys win, the survivors all cheer, and everybody lives happily ever after. But the heroβ¦ never gets to see that ending. Theyβll never know if their sacrifice actually made a difference. Theyβll never know if the day was really saved. In the endβ¦ they just have to have faith.
Ain't that a bitch."
Not a Star Wars quote, but I thought it very fitting to Rogue One.
