Perhaps you've gotten used to seeing her eyes in the style of the show.

I'm not familiar with the character's origins as I haven't watched the show, but I think in this piece, and correct me if I'm wrong, the artist was perhaps trying to portray Korra as if she were of Native American descent.

Korra isn't from Native American decent. She is from a world that isn't ours so to speak. She comes from a inut kind of civilazation called the Water Tribes

Thanks! Yeah, I wanted her to look like an Inuit/ North American Native since that's what culture her and her people are based on.

Thanks for the input but regarding the design influence, it wouldn't look right or make sense.
