Description A concept for the Loch Ness Monster. I don't often illustrate cryptids. The brief for this piece asked for the concept to incorporate some explanation for how Nessie has eluded investigators so effectively; my concept shows long filaments which act as camouflage when the creature is resting on the bottom of the loch.

Love your creature, you got that lake-y murkiness spot on.
I did a very similar picture a while ago, they're almost kindred spirits

That would it explain it, yes...and if I saw that thing in person, I'd piss myself. 0_0

All joking aside, though, excellent work! I especially like the way you drew the water; very nice!

Holy! Very scary! Eerie! A zombie Ness! Just like that mysterious corpse the Japanese fishing boat dragged up and took photos of many decades ago. I do not want to go into dark waters!

Brijaymetal [2012-06-25 03:37:58 +0000 UTC]

The only way I think it could be real is if it were not a plesiosaur. Because they ran a sonar over the loch for air in it's lungs and nothing came up. But what if it is a large strange fish and not a marine mammal? Lol, Idk. I'm no expert, obviously.

It actually looks cadaverous like an aquatic zombie. All it needs is a skinny dipping woman and the Jaws theme to complete the image.

But I like your new concept of Nessie. Great work!

There is something so creepy about this. The colours are great, as is the lighting to give the effect that it's underwater. I love the texture of the stuff on its body; it really give the thing a sort-of seaweed feeling.

foreveredward [2012-04-21 03:12:16 +0000 UTC]

I love this. Also, I like how you made it camouflaged in a way. Another way it could be seen would be ghostly, like Nessie is a ghost of past sea monsters(plesiosaurs and the like) and that's why it hasn't been found yet, since it could vanish at will, not being a living thing with mass. Beautiful!
