episode blurb: when a Gorgon named Drakaina kidnaps Nikki's friends, Draikaina strikes a deal with Nikki that if she can pass her 7 trials, she will let them go. however, little does Nikki know that this is a setup by Estrella to see if she's truly worthy of a greater cause. Nikki must go through the 7 trials to test her Responsibility, Confidence, Leadership, Courage, Energy, Power, and Love to save each and every one of her friends. will Nikki pass these trials and save her friends?

part 1: the capture
on a peaceful day in Dreamland, Nikki, Scarlet, Dylan, Envy, Platinum, Amethyst, Autumn, and Kirby all enjoy the day by having a picnic. when the picnic was almost finished, the sunny skies suddenly turn cloudy and thunder suddenly spawns. Amethyst thinks some kind of magic is behind the quick weather changes. suddenly lightning strikes Scarlet, Dylan, Envy, Platinum, Amethyst, Autumn, and Kirby, rendering them unconscious. Nikki is confused why she was not struck. a portal appears as some kind of magic that levitates the 7 and sends them into the portal. Nikki jumps through the portal when all of her friends entered the portal. As Nikki enters through the portal, she appears to be in a void dimension resembling a Greek temple made of quartz, complete with a black sky. Nikki looks up to see her friends imprisoned in bubbles, still unconscious. a monster resembling a Gorgon approaches Nikki and welcomes Nikki to her domain. she introduces herself as Drakaina. she explains that she has captured her friends in order for Nikki to complete a series of trials that she has set up for her. she adds that her friends are safe and sound within the confines of their bubble prison.

part 2: the challenge
Drakaina also adds that each one of Nikki's friends is sorted into a trial, and for every trial completed, each one of the bubbles will turn yellow. Drakaina then uses her magic to swap bodies between Nikki and Drakaina. Nikki becomes a Gorgon with yellow-green scales with the snakes on her hair become a darker shade of yellow-green except for one which is yellow with a light yellow underbelly, and blue eyes resembling a snake, and a cobra hood. Drakaina becomes a Green puffball with darker green feet and blushes with yellow eyes. Nikki is freaked out by the transformation, but Drakaina promises to switch them back as well as to free her friends once all of the trials have been completed. when Drakaina departs, Nikki suddenly hears a voice call out to her. Nikki finds that the yellow snake is the blonde-streaked bang she had as a human. the snake advises Nikki to never give in to fear and complete the trials. the snake also guesses that she has been given sentience to guide Nikki through the trials. Nikki nicknames the snake Lume (short for lumière which is French for light). a door appears as a rope of light from Dylan's bubble connects to the door. Lume guesses that their first trial has begun as Nikki goes through the door.

part 3: the trial of Responsibility
the first trial is the trial of Responsibility, represented by Dylan. Nikki remembers that Dylan took responsibility for not believing in Nikki's truth that she was from another world when they first met. because Nikki will have to get used to the series of trials, Drakaina decides to start off with something easy to do. Drakaina takes Nikki to a familiar memory. Nikki is a younger version of herself as a human with a baby younger sister Kathy. they were playing when they accidentally broke a flower vase on a table. Nikki blames baby Kathy for the destruction of the vase. Drakaina rewinds the clock, with Nikki now in the body of her younger self. Lume advises Nikki as a disembodied voice to take the rap. as Drakaina watches Nikki fix the memory from the distance, she wonders why one of the snakes on Nikki has gone sentience and has gained the ability to talk to help Nikki with the series of trials ahead of her. Nikki then tells her mom the truth that she brother the vase. then her mom hugs Nikki as a sign of forgiving her. Drakaina is impressed with Nikki's first victory with the help of one of her snakes and the first trial is complete. with the first trial completed, Dylan's bubble turns yellow and Amethyst's bubble links to the door for the next trial to begin.

part 4: the trial of Confidence
the second trial is the trial of Confidence, represented by Amethyst. Nikki remembered the time when Amethyst stood up to Nikki when they were revealed to be humans from Earth. this trial Lume explains to Nikki is that she must pass through a dark hallway full of monsters. Nikki feels like she had just walked into a horror game. Nikki feels scared of what monsters await and will jump scare Nikki, but Lume alerts Nikki to any upcoming monster that would try to spook Nikki, almost like Lume has a sense of foresight. Nikki then dodges every scare the monsters come at her. with Lume's help, Nikki finally reaches the end of the hallway and reaches the goal. with the trial completed, Amethyst's bubble turns yellow. then, Platinum's bubble links to the door for the next trial.

part 5: the trial of Leadership
the third trial is the trial of Leadership, represented by Platinum. Nikki remembered that Platinum's devotion inspired Nikki to be a good leader. a small group of Waddle Dees then form a line behind Nikki, much to her confusion. Lume points out that since this is a trial of leadership, Drakaina must've set up a game of follow the leader. the trial ahead is a series of obstacles to test Nikki's skills as a leader. Nikki seemed to have passed each test successfully but it was a bit difficult for her. each test was a bit harder than the last, but she reached the goal with only minor difficulties. with the trial completed, Platinum's bubble turns yellow as a sign the trial is complete. Kirby's bubble then inks to the door, signaling that the next trial is ready for Nikki and Lume.

part 6: the trial of Courage
the fourth trial is the trial of Courage, represented by Kirby. Nikki remembered that Kirby was brave toward Nikki's determination to stand up against the vilest of foes Nikki has faced until now. Nikki suddenly comes across three mirrors. the first mirror shows Kathy and Autumn as humans having a tea party together. they see Nikki and invite her to their party. the mirror second shows Brandon as a human sitting on a dating table, waiting for Nikki to start their date. and finally, the third mirror shows all of Nikki's friends from Popstar who need Nikki's assistance to beat a dark monster. Lume advises Nikki to choose carefully. Nikki thought really hard about which decision to choose, then decides on the third mirror by placing her hand on it. Lume asks Nikki why she has picked that mirror. Nikki figured that she would rather help her friends than cower to her life on earth. the mirror shines as Kirby's bubble turns yellow, signaling that the trial is complete. Envy's bubble then links to the door with the next trial in wait.

part 7: the trial of Energy
the fifth trial is the trial of Energy, represented by Envy. Nikki remembered a time when Envy showed Nikki how to use her powers sparingly. a charger gauge (identical to the battery charger from Kirby Planet Robobot) appeared. Nikki is instructed by Lume that in this trial Nikki must fuel the gauge with her light magic. Nikki puts both her hands on the magical pedestal to charge the gauge. she then transfers her magic to the pedestal. as Nikki focuses on inserting her magic, Lume sees the gauge gradually fill up. when the gauge was full, Lume tells Nikki to stop. Nikki grew tired from inserting so much magic. the filled gauge then transforms into a shape resembling a bird. the bird then soars to the sky and explodes like fireworks. Envy's bubble then turns yellow, signaling that the trial is complete. Scarlet's bubble then links to the door that leads to the next trial.

part 8: the trial of Power
the sixth trial is the trial of Power, represented by Scarlet. Nikki suddenly remembered that Scarlet's dragon might have aided Nikki in times of need, including facing the illusionary Dark Dragon. Suddenly, a huge swarm of monsters surrounded Nikki. Lume theorizes that Drakaina with a name like power must mean that it is a test of Nikki's powers. Nikki finds it difficult to fight in her Gorgon form due to the snakes getting in her way of her vision, but thankfully is still able to use her magic. when one of the stronger monsters attacked Nikki, Nikki tried to intimidate it by doing a mean stare. the monster suddenly froze in place and turned to stone. Lume noticed that because Nikki is a gorgon, she has the power to turn opponents to stone with a gaze. with the new power Nikki has while she is a gorgon, she was easily able to beat all of the monsters, completing the trial of Power. Scarlet's bubble then turned yellow. Autumn's bubble links to the door, meaning the seventh and last trial is open.

part 9: the trial of Love
the seventh trial is the trial of love, represented by Autumn. Nikki immediately knows about Autumn's love for Nikki due to their sibling relationship, despite Autumn being adopted into her family. a monstrous form of Autumn's alien hybrid form spawns suddenly spawns. it spouts a bunch of furious and rather sad secrets about what happened in her life, making Nikki wonder how the monster knew Autumn's secrets. Lume thinks that it must be a physical manifestation of Autumn's sad secrets that she wanted to keep from Nikki. Lume advises Nikki that she must find a way to calm down the monster without the use of violence. Nikki already knows about the secret of her missing father and dead mother. Nikki hugs Autumn's monster, comforting it. the monster suddenly illuminates and disappears, completing the trial. with all seven trials complete, Autumn's bubble, the last bubble imprisoning Nikki's friends, turns yellow.

part 10: the trials completed
with all trials completed, Nikki and Lume is teleported back to the temple as Drakaina congratulates Nikki for completing the trials. as promised, she reverses the spell that swapped Drakaina and Nikki's forms and turns Nikki back into a Puffball and Drakaina turns back into a Gorgon. Nikki says goodbye to Lume while the transformation spell is still in effect. the bubbles containing Nikki's friends begin to fade as Nikki starts to fade as well. Drakaina tells Nikki that she has surpassed each test to prove that she has great potential in store for the future. as Nikki and her friends fade away, we see Drakaina talking to a puffball revealed to be Estrella. Estrella congratulates Drakaina on a job well done, and the final trial will soon come. Drakaina admits it was fun being a puffball for a short time, but shakes it off and is happy to assist Estrella in any way possible. As they both stare into the emptiness of the void, Nikki and her friends are teleported back on popstar, Nikki's friends seem to have no recollection of their capture, nor Nikki's trials. so Nikki recaps what happened to her friends while they were out cold.

the 7 trials were originally going to be in separate episodes but I figured combining them would be the best idea.
Was going to make a trial based on the horror puzzle game Saw, but I figured that would be too violent. plus, I don't think any of Nikki's friends are worth to be in danger.
Nikki's friends being imprisoned might be a reference to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Season 2 Episode 26 called Twilight's Kingdom - Part 2.
