Sandeon is a Pokemon sometimes mentioned in Egyptian mythology as a guardian of the deceased. In ancient Egypt, this Pokemon was called upon to guard the tombs of the Pharaohs.
Parts of Sandeon's fur, which is a type of special sand, turn to glass. This special glass is lightweight and easy to carry around. If light passes through specific areas of the class, light is magnified and melts more sand to turn it to glass.

Entry for the Eevee Fan Club. I was invited to enter so I decided to make something. The picture you see here I started yesterday from a projected I discontinued last time this contest was offered last year. I had a different idea for an entry but I figured it was too hard and time consuming to start from scratch with my schedule. This was actually rather relaxing to do this picture for a change.
I wanted to make a longer description but nothing else came to mind. I think that is going to hurt my entry. ><
Only a single filter was used on this picture and that was a static filter to create the texture in the sand in the foreground. Everything else is painted digitally. This took quite some time to do too. I have no idea how long though.

The idea? Oh I am not sure. I think I got the idea from a video game that involved earth and glass magic.

i think you may be wrong. tell you what, the next contest you decide to do a picture for, look through your gallery; then make a picture that it totaly different than what you find there. Your an amazing artist, you'll find something that works

I really love this, especially the background. THough I do think the sand is a bit bright for it being nighttime, and maybe shading with a dark blue-ish could could also help make the eon look a little more realistic.
And a question: it kinda looks like you use black to shade, do you?

Well, my style is suppose to be somewhat surreal, but I am not mad for you thinking that about the background. ^^
The way I shade or basically color is picking an intense color then moving the color up and down on my window to get more black and white. That is how I try to shade in pencil. For some reason I do not like using complimentary colors on shading. I know what it is suppose to do it but I do not like how it makes the picture look.... oh wait, if you mean highlights from the night sky then that is a flaw I will accept and try to fix.... eventually.
I only used the dodge and burn tool for the sand only, both the shadow and the paw prints, mostly because I was afraid of undoing the "sandy" filter I used.

Well, I wasn't really thinking complimentary colors for shading, I just thought blue since it was night and blue shading goes well with nighttime imo. Never paid much attention to the complimentary thing. And pale blue hilights would look cool, didn't think about that either.
The only thing I saw with the background was how bright it is, but like you said, that's your surreal style. I like the black on the bg, I think that looks fine with black shading.
Yeah, didn't comment on the sand filter the first time, could hardly see it(not your fault, I need stronger lenses than the ones I have for my glasses right now). The sand effect is really awesome. And the prints.
