From an AU me and Dededes did way back now...
Essentially, a "hey, Zero.exe is a thing, why not X and Copy X? And they can be created in an entirely separate situation to their original games since EXE does that all the time!" setting haha.
Some human created the two of them, Copy to be a "virus" that was under his control and would look threatening, and then X would "defeat" him and bring the human great fame and fortune etc etc.
But Copy goes completely rouge and X is a pacifist who doesn't want to fight him if he's being serious about it
