Description The fortress-city of Eadknair stands on a vast lake in central Norsetar. Stones and legends tell it is quite ancient, and has seen many inhabitants come and go over the centuries. It is said, it once had a twin city on the other side of the lake, with an enormous bridge connecting the two right across the water. The twin is, however, nowhere to be found, and those hints of the bridge that are left make it impossible to tell where it led to...

Eadknair has been for generations an independent city-state, never conquered or taken by force. Only a few centuries ago, when the Grand Smith Areathkor united and forged what is now present Norsetar, it had finally become part of the state on quite beneficial terms.
Though the city itself has no mining sites nearby, several imortant setar trade routes go south, through the planes, making the city prosper nonetheless.

It is a really nice concept and all but... don't you think the bushes are getting too much attention by occupying 1/4 of the canvas? They don't mean much to the image yet they have a lot of importance. Besides, the city should be affected by aerial perspective, turning it greyed but not darker, with more blurred lines and less contrast with the lake.

I hope I haven't offended you, I really like the colour palette and the expressiveness of the brush strokes. This is just the opinion of a random person on the internet.

No, not at all! Your feedback is much appreciated!
I think you're probably right on both points.
As for the bushes, I wanted something to be in the foreground as well, for better composition and just didn't think of anything else Hm.. maybe I could change them for some people or something more interesting?
As for aerial perspective, again, true, but I feared the city wouldn't stand out enough from the surrounding. Idk, how do they make focus on stuff that's faraway, without giving it more contrast? Any ideas?

Oh, I'm happy if you find my feedback useful ^^! I'm just trying to help.
About the bushes: I'm not saying they are wrong there, I'm saying they are too big. If you put some people instead, what would be the purpose? They may grab more attention than the castle (or maybe not, I don't know).
About the castle: well just put it "closer", make the horizon even more far away, put the background really far, and leave the castle somewhere between that very far away background and the bushes. Think that your sky is kinda flat, you can play with that and try to give it more dimension, in order "to put the castle closer". For any object which is away from us, the farther they are, the smaller, blurrer and less contrasted they appear, that also include clouds, those at least that are not covering the horizon (like smoke, fog, very low clouds...). I hope you understood my point here because it is tricky. I'll give you an example.
fav.me/d701nea <- I bet you can perfectly say which clouds are close and which ones are far. Maybe it could be a good idea for you to reference the sky and clouds you want to use :3.
Hope that helped!
