It's finished now. I still have a ways to go, as far as refinement goes. Still, I think this looks pretty good. It was just a fun piece. I drew it in a 9x12" sketchbook, so part of the right side got cut off in the scan. I could have rescanned and tried to piece the two parts together, but I was too lazy for that. I'm not sure about that purple in the mouth, but I guess it's fine. I don't think it clashes too much with the rest of the colors. Now, what to draw next? I have some commissions to get caught up on, so I guess I better work on those.Related content

It has a very nice shine, though there seems to be an unstable light source. Still, I really like this. This is my fav mech and you made it look like an american comic book.

It's digital coloring on traditional line drawing. Airbrushing can achieve a similar effect, though. It's just a little messier, but it allows for the use of cool speckle effects.

I have to say your rendition makes Gurren look less pristine and polished than it does in the show, but who's complaining? it's "Who the hell do you think I AM?!" Gurren! you can't not love Gurren Lagann.

Yeah, there's actually supposed to be a cockpit inside the mouth, but I'm ignoring that in this picture. Those commissions will be cropping up pretty soon. How about that Elephant Swordsman variant? Just saw that tonight. Haven't been on the boards in a while.

Personally I think nine elephants is too much, but I'm still gonna get them all.
I like the completely different head sculpt idea. Hopefully we get unique sculpts with all nine instead of just three head sculpts and different colored elephants.

There's no way I'm buying nine elephants. I didn't vote for him in the first place. At $25 each, I am absolutely not spending $225 on these guys when there's so much other stuff I want. At best, I'll probably purchase 2. I'll have to see all the other variants first, though. If they sculpt another head, that might make things complicated.

Glad you like the gold. That was all freehand brush. I used about half freehand and half lasso tool for the colors.

Yeah, when I was done coloring the Gurren, I felt it had to have a better background than the lazy gradient I slapped down on the Enki piece. I should go give that a better background.

And one day I hope to be able to draw like that... well and have a scanner that works so I can do a high quality colour job to, but first the draw part ;D

Good luck with getting that scanner and everything. Just keep drawing. Use some reference if you need to. Remember to plan things out before you touch pencil to paper. I always need to picture these things in my head before starting, otherwise I end up having to scrap them halfway through.
