You really caught the old time feel of the place...course I notice that the tree's are not bent sideways so must have been an unusually glorious day!

Sounds like you had alot of fun...I am so jealous!! I gave up my rabbit business this year so that we can take some roadtrips. The horses have 30 acres, running water and 2 ton bales of hay...I can leave for a week or so at a time and not worry. Rabbits were a 3 times a day, 24/7 responsibility. SO we will be doing some trips next summer...hence the van!

i really like western montana - most of wyoming - eastern utah - western colorado and parts of idaho
and thanks for the comp
i see you live in cheyenne - - on tues sept 28th the worlds largest operating steam locomotive - UP 3985 - The Challenger
will be making the circus train run to denver - a rare event......i think it will leave around 7 - 8 am from speer - just a real short distance from the Main UP line - i think it leaves on track 3 then switches to track for - south

Thanks that might be a good photo op. I have a friend that works for UP, I'll ask him about it. I looked at your gallery, you have done a good job capturing the west. I wish I had the resources to travel and photograph, I really enjoy it. Good stuff, thank you for the reply.

This and "The Padlock School" both have good color but I think this has the better composition. Not so centered. The afternoon clouds really perk up the sky as well.

well i was kinda wanting the flagpole and the outhouse (both) in the pic - so centering the school was just about the only way (?)
as for the barn (enbar) i wished i had more breathing room on the left, but there was a bunch of stuff there - a new horse trailer and a couple of cars - just didn't look right with them in the pic.
i lucked out with those clouds - the whole week-end i had sweeeeet clouds !

The clouds are good. You can't really appreciate them until you look at all those shots you have with the cloudless, clear blue skies that are typical out here. HDR does some interesting things with the clouds on some of mine.

i did some messing aroud with HDR, but i do the fake ones - using a single RAW file - seems to work alright for me ?
but year it does some funky stuff to the white - white of clouds. i usually hav eto clone some clouds over the blown out areas ?
i don't like the HDR that come with photoshop
and i've used photmatix, but the one i like is dynamic-phot hdr - alot more stuff with it and it was half the price of photomatix
there's a big train coming into town tomorrow !
UP 3985 - The Challenger (the world's largest operating stream locomotive) - is gonna be pulling the circus train
it leaves cheyenne (steam shop) at 6 am
them meets up with the circus train coming from salt lake a place called speer - not far from the terry ranch rd exit...west of I-25
it will travel down the HWY 85 corridor.
i'm not sure what time it gets into denver ?
it's gonna stop in greeley to pick up some big wigs.....
i'm still try to think about were i'm gonna try to catch it ????

I saw mention of the circus train in the Sunday paper and thought you'd be somewhere along the route. It'ws supposed to arrive at York and 47th at 10:00am with the parade at 1:30 from 44th and Brighton down to the coliseum. A shot of the car with the giraffes sticking up would be a good shot if they actually transport them that way.
