Description well i didn't have the sky i hope for - those nice wispy clouds we always have ! not today though - overcast - as the famous UP 844 made it's annual run from Denver, CO to Cheyenne, WY for Cheyenne Frontier Days - and even though it was overcast - it might have worked in my favor. this locomotive is so shiny and black that the mid-morning sun would have given it some horrible glare spots

Now THAT is a passenger train! The lighting certainly did work to your advantage here to light up all the details of No. 844. Only thing you lost was depth on the rolling hills in the background. But the scene itself makes up for that, and it's great that the fireman put on a little bit of a show for you as the train came by.

thanks (?) - really didn't care for the lighting - something like 9:30-10:00 am not the best - but i don't get to pick "her" time...., but each year i truck out there hopin' it might be the year - the sky sucked that day too.

Great picture, don’t worry about the sky, it works well in combination with the desaturated grass.

The 844 is of course an awesome locomotive. But what I really like is that they are using a Centennial to guard against breakdowns, instead of something boring.

thanks
as for the desaturated grass - well the last 10 days it's be pretty hot and dry and the prairie is starting to turn brown.
last year at this same time the prairie was twice as high and real green....
