From current occasion, I have a sad picture this time.Last weekend, my cat passed away after nearly 17 years. A long time for a cat that has lived mostly outside, but still far too short.

That's really sad new. I sympathize with your situation having lost two feline long-time companions, as well. Both were part of my life for so many years. It's just hard to lose friends.

Ich denke auch dass es ihr gefallen hat, sonst wΓ€re sie bestimmt nicht immer wieder heim gekommen. Und so wirklich weit weg ist sie eh nie gegangen. Unser Garten und der der Nachbarn hat ihr vΓΆllig ausgereicht.

Here is a poem that was given to us by our vets after we lost a fur baby, and I believe we will see them all again somedayΒ
"Just the side of Heaven is a place called The Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to The Rainbow Bridge
There are meadows and hills for our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food and water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill or old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they miss someone very special to them who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.Β
Their bright eyes are intent; their eager body quivers, suddenly they begin to run from the group, flying over the green grass, their legs carrying them faster and faster.
You have been spotted and when you and your friend finally meet, you cling to each other in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross The Rainbow Bridge together......"

My last cat lived to 19, she was mostly an indoor cat, but not exclusively. At nine, the vet said she'd live only another 5 years, and the neighbour was sure he'd found her dead in his hedge a couple of times. I still miss her after ten years.
Great expressions, and the 'not important at the time' homespun 'final indignity' of a box labelled 'christmas decoration'.
