Description Yay, it's Link  from the Legend of Zelda: Breath of Fresh Air.

It took me a lot of time to finish, but I think it looks pretty good and I'm happy with the result.
The pose was based off of this artwork: s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/7…
And I also used the Amiibo as reference when making the base: s3-us-west-1.amazonaws.com/sha…

A little background on how this thing was made:

Most of the parts (with the exception of the bow, hair, shield, arrows and base) were sculpted using oil clay, and since it doesn't harden on its own, I had to cut everything up into seperate parts and make molds of each one. Since I don't have the proper equipment, I used silicone caulk for the molds, which ended up having quite a few errors that I needed to fix afterwards. I cast them with plaster, and that also gave me a lot of trouble because air bubbles kept getting trapped inside, so the quality of the cast is also pretty meh.

The reason I chose oil rather than air dry clay is because it is much easier to sculpt with and allows me more freedom, but because I don't have proper tools to mold/cast, it ended up being pretty much the same. Actually, I think it would have taken less time if I just used a self hardening clay.

Yeah I saw those quite a while ago. Have you done any progress on your Link? Last I saw you only had works in progress posted = P

No they’re as they were as I plan to paint everything I do with an airbrush to get that professional look and then hand brush the details. But I’m focusing far more on sculpting first as it’s making me money now. I also am learning to cast in resin, so much to learn but wanna do this long term so no hurry

This is incredible! Seeing how much you improved on your skills over the last 7 years was one thing, but seeing your latest Link from all the angles, it just drives home the point of how skilled you are. The texturing in his hair and clothing is expertly done while everything else... I mean, there's not enough I can say about how awesome this really is. You say that the bow, hair, shield, and arrows weren't made using oil clay. How were they made? How tall is this figure?

Thank you very much, your comment made me very happy  As for the parts where I didn't use oil clay, I made them from air drying clay. And the whole figure is around 22 centimeters tall from base to the top of the head, but it's a couple of centimeters taller if you add the height of the bow : P

Whoa! That's an impressive height. I'm guessing you built an internal skeleton before sculpting? I really like this piece, it's inspiring me to make a Link of my own... not that I wasn't planning one anyway, just now I want to make a BotW version even more hahaha! You're very welcome

Nice work! You probably want to try a polymer clay, because you can just harden it in the oven and it works quite well for sculptures like this.
Also thanks for the watch

Oh, I'd love to use polymer clay, but the only type that is sold around here is Fimo, and I find it way too soft and rubbery to work with.. And thanks for watching me, too ^^

If you mold and cast your sculptures anyway, you could also try oil based clay or sculpting wax.
