Originally an English East Indiaman built to trade in Japan, where only one Dutch East Indiaman was permitted to go per year, this great vessel was built by The Portuguese to trade, and rival the Dutch. It came down to two houses. One of three brothers, and the other, of four. It was, the latter than had won the lot of Captaincy and command. and with it, the glory and wealth of their Family, and Nation. While the Fourth brother was at sea, the former Family had had them accused wrongfully and hanged. When the last brother returned, his hold flush with riches of the orient, He was cast away a slave to the Caribbean, where he took up company with buccaneers. a Crew of twenty four, and himself, bound together in ties of brotherhood, fame, fortune and all the horizon would bring.
But again, the Horizon, brought death, slander and misfortune. The Same brothers, had then killed the new found family of the captain, leaving him, again, alone. So, he had embarked on a quest of revenge, plundering from the Family that had brought his twice over to ruin, using the great Indiaman to do so. He rechristened her, The Thirty Gibbets. From her bow and lack of figurehead, he hung his three brothers, to wrench them from the gibbets turned his stomach, and from every yard, hung his former crew, of 24 buccaneers, his only salvation from the loss of his original family. From the lanterns astern, he hung the slanderous trio who had brought both his families to ruin to begin with.
Then, he hoisted his black flag upside down, a sign of distress, and then crafted a bloody banner, a skeletal hand, severing the hand that held fast to its own manacle. Bloody Revenge and Liberation. The Crew leaver her captain be. He knows better than to get attached to other people. But, he will stand by his men as a matter of honor and principle. A Captain's duty to his crew, and the purpose of the Voyage.
I depicted it as a sort of 'Red Skies in the morning, sailors take warning', with a distant 'Wall of Death' on the horizon. She is supposed to have a mounted horseman at her stern which was later redecorated to portray Death from tarot cards. she also

But it had to be abandoned because the image i had did not coincide with the commissioner. I drew inspiration from the actual English Flagship 'Revenge' which had portraits on her hull, and the aft galleries of the Black Pearl.
