There was!Β Can you believe it?Β I actually remember when "Music Television" played music videos instead of back-to-back "reality" shows.Β Sometimes the "VJ's" even engaged in humor!Β (*gasps*)Β My favorite was when Phil Collins had a song called "Hang In Long Enough".
VJ: "That was Phil Collins' Hang In Long Enough.Β Finally, after all those years of pulling on it."Β (The VJ was making a masturbation joke, in case it wasn't obvious.)
I think they should figure out ways to take guys like me and keep our brains alive so we can tell little kids about the time when computers ran at just a few megahertz and had RAM measured in kilobytes and hard drives in megabytes.Β And horror stories about cars that didn't fly or drive themselves, you actually had to use your hands (yuck!).Β And when MTV actually played music, obviously.
P.S. Having said that, I don't blame Sci-Fi for changing their name to "SyFy".Β It seems silly, but they were doing it for trademark reasons.Β You can't trademark "Sci-Fi"; it's too generic a term.Β I think that may be the same reason Travel Channel recently changed their logo to "TRVL".

They've started to show signs of Network Decay too.Β I mean, not in the sense of showing reality TV all the time like MTV does, but switching to cheaply-animated 15-minute shows.Β They don't have the 30-minute Ben 10 episodes anymore, they've got the crappy 15-minute Ben 10 episodes.Β They don't have the original 30-minute Teen Titans episodes anymore, they've got the crappy 15-minute Teen Titans Go! episodes.Β At least they do still have Toonami on Saturday nights, which is nice.Β Personally, I'd like to see them show some of the cartoons I watched while growing up, even if there are no new episodes.Β Cops, Bravestarr, Spiral Zone, Mutant League, Skeleton Warriors, etc.

Yep.Β If my mother didn't have a few channels that she watches all the time (she lives with me because she's 88 and I can't afford to put her into a retirement home), AND if I wasn't getting a really good deal (my cable and Internet are both bundled, and we've been a customer of the same cable company for more than 30 years, so they give me a discount), I'd dump cable in a heartbeat.
