Description
From the Old Fort in Jasper NP. You can see the last bits of Jasper to the left as well as the Athabasca River. The mountain peaks in the background should be those of Grisette Mountain and Mount Dromore.All the brown trees in the pictures are infested by pine beetles. It's quite sad as it has gotten really bad over the last 3 years apparently.

Auch dieses ist ein sehr schönes (!) Bild, auch wenn es ein kapitales ökologisches Desaster einfängt. Die Borkenkäferplage beschäftigt die hiesige Forstwirtschaft nun ja auch schon seit Generationen, ist aber in der Dimension mit den riesigen Schäden in Kanada absolut nicht vergleichbar. Habe da gerade mal einen Artikel über dieses Phänomen in BC aus einer website der Forst ("waldwissen")ausgegraben, der war für mich ganz aufschlussreich.

...so einfach funktioniert die Ökologie meistens nur in der politischen Rhethorik. Weil es sich wirtschaftlich wie ökologisch um ein katastrophales Phänomen handelt, sind seit Jahrzehnten viele Experten am Thema dran.
