Description That's what I would call today. After sleeping in a Walmart parking lot, driving to Sul-Doc Falls and all the way up to Flattery Cape one of our suspension coil springs broke on our way back. Stranded in no-man's land we slowly made our way to the next village in search for a workshop (the coil was rubbing against the tire...). They didn't have one but some people told us the next village had a workshop. Arriving in the next village, the workshop obviously wasn't open on a Sunday at 6 pm. We parked our car in front of the workshop, which is an "out-of-order" gas station with lots of broken cars in the area. Then we managed to get ourselves a stay at a bed and breakfast, managed by a lovely old lady. We went to the beach afterwards to see a nice sunset with a cloud inversion on the sea. You can see it in the background if you look closely. How crazy is that? The land that peaks above those clouds in the background is Vancouver Island.

And it's not even far away. I think the Lady from the B&B told us it's 18 miles or so. We are probably going to go there as well later this summer. Probably in the first half of August. Hope you are going to take some great pictures!

Ha.. we had a similar occurrence coming back down the Alcan.. the driveshaft on our station wagon broke in a little place called Wallace Idaho...same deal..nobody had a 1959 ford ranchwagon driveshaft..after a day and a half an old garage found a 1957 driveshaft that worked to replace ours.. we had hours of wandering before we could leave.. adds to the adventure hehe

That's an old car, wow. Stuff was also way more secluded back then than it is today.

The mechanic will need another day to fix our car because he had to order a replacement for the broken part. Not too long of a wait and it's also less expensive than we thought it would be.

True. I somehow always manage to break my cars in no-man's land. Happened twice now in the US. Hell, even in Germany, when the V-Belt of my parent's Van broke (I was driving), it was in a place where the police couldn't locate us.
