Description The first view into North Klondike Valley on our way to Divide Lake. The mountains on the left should be part of the Tombstone Range. I will have to confirm this information by checking my paper map later but I don't have that one on me right now.
Anyways, there's a great change in colours here. Before, the autumn colours were mostly yellow. However, this valley was insanely red. Imagine how vibrant the red must have been with a touch of sunlight. I hope you also noticed the little spruce (?) tree in the bottom left corner. I loved it. We are quite a bit above the tree line here and it was basically the only tree at trail height. There are a few more scattered down in the valley. Somehow a seed made it all the way up here AND was able to germinate. The tree is so small but it surely holds its ground.
From here it's only about 2 km to Divide Lake. It's also the easiest part of the trail because there are only small rock slides and it's a fairly even walk.

Location: Divide Lake Trail, North Klondike Valley, Tombstone Territorial Park, Yukon Territory, Canada

Miragee if you'd allow it, I'd like to work with your raw file to see if I can do a better processing of it. Mind sending me one? This photo is a good choice or any of your horizontal images from your recent Canada trip. "Tribute" looks good so no need for that one. 'Divine Divide' or this one would be a good choice. There's something about the sharpening you did, especially.

I can send you the RAWs if you like. Just shoot me a PM with your email or another way to send it.

My sharpening process is as basic as it gets. I don't have a good technique I like that doesn't require enormous work so if you got one I would appreciate your input. At the moment I use the high pass filter in Photoshop.

As for the general sharpness: Most of my pictures are taken hand-held. While OIS is awesome there is still camera shake in the pictures. Sometimes more (wind, low shutter speed), sometimes less. My images will never look as sharp as yours because you use a tripod. Tribute probably looks good because my camera was safely placed on a boulder and I used a 2 second timer.

I used google docs and gave you permission to download it I think. Those are the original RAWs not the ones I have worked on.

I use a camera. It's a Fuji X-T10 to be exact. OIS is Optical Image Stabilisation. So basically the sensor isn't locked in places but can move around so when I move the camera a bit the sensor stays in place. This reduces camera shake significantly. I never carry a tripod or filters.

Heh yeah. It's nice to have a home to come back to and reminisce about all the experiences you had. But in the moment, I agree, you don't want to leave.

It's just the kind of place where you can spend years and still keep finding new things every day!...

Yes, exactly! I love this in pretty much every aspect of life - be it people, music, games or , like here, nature. Stunning at first but it also has so many details that you never get tired of it and even after years are able to experience or learn something new.
