Description

Victoria Glacier from the Plains of Six Glaciers lookout. It's the glacier feeding the famous Lake Louise and it's quite sad to see how far it has retreated. You could constantly hear the cracking and growling when small parts broke away. My friend put it in perfect words: It was as if you could hear the glacier dying.

Location: Plains of Six Glacier Outlook, Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada

Thank you Jonathan! I agree, imho quite a bit better than the lake itself.

It is still so beautiful despite the sadness of what humans are doing to the planet.

I was there three years ago on my honeymoon and the difference is already shocking... It's a beautiful picture, but it does make me quite sad

Yeah, I have seen a lot of glaciers recently and heard stories/saw historic pictures to compare. Seeing them is beautiful but also fills you with sadness.

People who don't believe in global warming need to see pics of all the glaciers from 2000 and then again today.. it's frightening

Yeah it is... But then they will tell you that it's a natural process, not man-made.
