Wow, this is an excellent drawing!
I like that you've managed to show the highlights and shadows so well
I'm trying to learn to do more realistic portrait style myself, do you have any tips or advice about that kind of drawing process?

thanks a lot ^^
I'm actually trying to improve my shadow tecnique myself, but since I'm a self-taught my tips may seem a bit confusing.
Anyway, I usually work with different kinds of pencils, the softer the pencil is, the darker shadow you get (in this case I used an F, an HB and a 2B).
I watch the reference pic really carefully, analysing where the light comes from and how this affects the shadows.I start with highlights and then I go on darkening the parts that require it.
For realism: many people build a grid on the reference picture, that helps them copy exactly what they see. I think it's a great method, I'm just too lazy to use it
I tend to reduce everything to basic shapes, and draw lines where eyes, nose and mouth are supposed to be. There are a lot of tutorials on deviant about that ^^
I can't tell you more, everyone develops their own method with time . Hope I've been useful, though
