"A large ship sat motionless...It had twin banks of oars, hanging down listlessly. A single rudder was visible. There were three masts, the main and fore both rigged with tattered square sails, the mizzen mast with the shredded remnants of a lateen...'That's a Quon dromon. Pre-Imperial."

So, I took a few creative liberties here, because I like abstract view on this scene It was quite challenging, and I had to re-read passages from book again, a few times xD (Well, If I look back, all my pictures for Malazan world are challenging for me, I assume its good thing to push your limits xD) I drawn a few sketches for this, but this one eventually wins after I tried render them more and see which one works more /or less). After that, I enjoyed drawing of undead dragon, background and - surprisingly xD - fires. Ship, onthe other hand, took me the longest - to figure out how to place masts, ropes, ripped sails ... but Silanda wend on another cruise even after all obstacles.
