If you have an interest in Arthurian legend, I should mention that we stopped at a small museum that had one of the finest collection of pictish stones. One of them, which depicted a person being torn apart by wild animals, had the following description beside it:
"In the Middle Ages, a local tradition began that this marked the grave of Queen Guinevere, known locally as Vanora. She was the wife of King Arthur, who put her to death after she was abducted and raped by his nephew, Mordred. This was considered shameful, and to save his honour, Arthur had Guinevere killed."
I had always had these wonderfully romantic visions of Camelot and King Arthur... you should have seen my face when I read that, lol.

Wow! That does take quite a different approach to the myth than you see in most storybooks.

There were actually oars and fishing poles in the boat. I had a really hard time resisting just taking the boat out into the water. But it was kind of rainy... and no one wanted to join me. So I sort of stomped around on the shore in frustration, snapping photos.
