Its not really a redline. Its more of a correction.

Okay, let me start by saying that mels head is in the wrong place. It would be easier to show this if Mel didn't put that huge glob of hair over her back. Anywho, in this picture, somehow you can see mels back but she's also facing you. She isnt an owl, so that obviously wouldnt work. You have to pick one; facing you or facing away from you, not half facing you and half not. Then comes her arms and hand. See how you can see her thumb when shes holding the drink? Well, you arent supposed to. Thats her right hand, so her thumb would be on the other side of the glass; not visible and you would only be able to see her pinkie finger.

I dont, however, think that Mel is a bad artist. My theory is that Mel doesnt sketch out her work. If she'd have sketched this out, should would have caught the huge anatomical mistake she made here. It also explains why she says she spends so long on her art and it looks like she spent very little; she's not sketching before she makes her lineart. Its incredibly hard to do. Sketching saves you alot of time. Trying to just eye the picture is something not even expert artists can do without taking a long time.
