Description

My 3rd work on my Animalia Collection from Lisbon Zoo, letter C.

Chita www.zoo.pt/site/animais_detalh…

Acinonyx jubatus

Cheetah
It is the fastest terrestrial mammal in the world at short distances. It distinguishes itself by the slender body and the black line in the form of tear, from the corner of each eye to the mouth. The male is larger than the female. Unlike most felines, it has claws exposed, fundamental for speed race.
It is usually solitary, but it is common to form small groups of male siblings who often hold together for a lifetime. It looks for shelter next to the dense underwood. And it marks your territory with urine.
The female is polyestrous: is receptive in short intervals of time, several times a year. By litter, an average of 4 babies are born, being breastfed for about 4 months. Despite the care of the mother, a mortality rate of offspring up to 3 months is very high in nature.
Distribution and Habitat: Africa and Middle East - Savannas, wooded plains and semi-desert areas.

Work produced from my original photos (visit to Lisbon Zoo).

Wonderful Animal...

Just wondering about your Zoo, is it a natural background in the zoo or are all the animals in cages??

We have a natural zoo free of bars which is really nice for viewing and photographing the animals...

It's really a very nice zoo, with natural backgrounds. The animals have space, especially the bigger ones, like felines, apes, elephants, giraffes...they are very well treated and look really healthy - even big birds like pelicans or vultures (we can be close to them when they are fed, and they have a close relation with their keepers and seem really happy).
You can take a look here www.zoo.pt/site/index_en.php?c…

I did go to your link, wonderful looking zoo and not too expensive at all for entrance fees.

Thank you for the link and info, I love seeing how different countries display their animals
and take care of them
