Dragon: "When I went to sleep, humans had only horse carriages... what happened?"
The giant creature was sitting in air force base, wings folded and fore legs crossed over, looking down where countless of tiny human had gathered around her. It had required a huge effort from scientists and diplomats to make the case that the giant was actually peaceful in nature. Eventually they had succeeded and a proper contact had been arranged with the dragon, though after few unfortunate incidents that included a eaten flock of sheeps and the dragon accidentally (or so she claimed) sitting on a certain loud mouthed businessman turned politician.
Scientist: "Well... in short, science happened. We learned to understand the forces of nature and to manipulate materials as we wished. And generate energy from liquefied dead plants, form the rays of Sun, and from splitting of the atoms."
Dragon: "But where do you then need me, if you are so powerful?"
Scientist: "We are not all-powerful... and natural catastrophes still cause horrible misery and death, but with your aid... I mean your size makes it possible for you to carry more than any plane or helicopter, and deliver it to where it is needed. And your size makes you almost invulnerable to all but our most powerful weapons."
Dragon: *Smiles, with a little chuckle* "Ah, I see! Well, I have always found humans most adorable, even if I was sometimes frowned upon by my own kind... when they were around that is."

Dragon: "...This is certainly unexpected." [Awkwardly waves a claw in greeting]

I love that you merged fantasy with our world to create a sense of scale. I can imagine the environment inside the plane while the dragon gracefully glides outside their windows. Nice work!
