Thanks. Sure, go ahead; I use my stuff as my backdrop all the time, and this one's done duty for that.
I use pretty much nothing but Illustrator.

According to the file dates on my computer, my first .AI file was last touched on October 27, 1999, at 1:25 in the morning. It's not around on the net, and the earliest of my pieces available here is my third one , from late November of that year. (DA's file dates are wrong, as Feb03 is when I started a gallery here and uploaded a smattering of older stuff.) It wasn't until a year later that I felt confident enough to ditch outlines; most of my early AI work, except for this one, relied on scanned inks.
Sure, try it! It's like any other medium - it has its strengths and its weaknesses, and its own particular best workflows to figure out. Its strengths fit well with mine; I was drawn to expanses of flat color long before I had AI. You can do lots of modelling in vector work; some people do some really complex photo-real stuff, but I always feel like it's exactly what the medium's not for, like trying to use charcoal for technical precision...

No, never heard of it... this is mostly inspired by the half-remembered work of illustrator Hilary Knight, and me being a tentacle fetishist.
thanks!

Gradient mesh, and transparancy.

I love all the tentacles! I saw the big one first,and then slowly I realized how many there were--all the different shapes and sizes. I particularly like the colors in this as well.

I'm wallpapering this one, oh yeah.
Reminds me of something straight out of HP Lovecraft, a scene filled with unnamed horrors that man was meant never to witness. Horrid leviathans of aeons past that would drive a person mad were they to ever realize how ancient and terrible these spectral creatures are.
...Yeah, tentacles are cool.

Very cryptic - again, your composition really draws the viewer in, the contrast between detail and non is very effective - jarring, but not offensively so. And yes, tentacles are love. *scalp love*
Wish I could give a more interesting comment, but I can't. Oh well. ^_^;
