Funny, I prefer the other two. Nonetheless great work.

Yeah, that doesn't surprise me. It's a common occurrence that everything I personally like, looks like garbage to everyone else. And the less impressive paintings are mind-blowingly good to the viewer's eye. I guess it's because their eyes are not trained to see art the way a more trained eye does. I remember when I was just starting out I was obsessed over photorealistic, every-inch-detailed kind of paintings but now it's the opposite. I've gained an appreciation for different styles and the more minimalistic paintings and drawings.

I understand what you're saying here, but my god you sound like a snob.

I also prefer the other two, they're framed better and draw the eye in to the arch better. Your painting technique on this is better, but the crop got rid of the most important parts of your previous image(s)

Haha, I was kinda thinking that a too when i read it. I do get what he means though, I think he just phrased it a tad wrong is all. English nuances can be a bit confusing from time to time for non native speakers Also, I like your work mate. +watch

Don't know what it is, I just don't like the color of the ground. But yeah, I'm not trained in those regards.

It could also be my ancient monitor. On my screen, it's a vibrant orange-red color that goes hand-in-hand with the color of the sky. But often when I look at my paintings on others' monitors, the colors are sometimes, well, not vastly different, but enough different to kill whatever mood I was going for.

Nope, IPS-Panel, two years old. Don't know how much of color space is covered though (not out of my head)
It's orange-red, I just don't like the color, compared to the other, darker ones.
It's a question of taste, nothing more

Mine is from 2007. It's a 16:10. I definitely need to get a better one soon. Either way, now that I'm looking at this with a fresher eye, it doesn't look as good as it did when I finished it. I'm still content with the way it turned out but the color of the ground might be a little too vibrant and what bothers me more, is that there isn't enough background objects. After the gate, it looks like it just cuts off into nothingness.
