There is hardly anyone in the shabby little café. She orders a coffee, black. It is cold, but she doesn’t send it back. She doesn’t drink it either. The water is free. She drinks that instead.

A woman she hasn’t seen before comes in, eyes to the ground. She sits not far away, at the counter. Sometimes she looks around, when she feels she isn’t being watched. Eileen never stops watching her. The way she's acting. It’s the way you act when you want to hide, but you can’t hide any longer.

Eileen knows that feeling well.

She wonders what the woman is keeping in her bag. A spray can, perhaps. Of freeze gas?
