Description For the Daily Sketch Forum at CGSociety again, topic First Snow.

Photoshop, about half an hour. You can also see this (and more works I've done these days) at my sketch blog .

I like that wee fox. That and the elm trees and the snow remind me of Edinburgh.

Snow's a fricking nuisance, but a pretty nuisance
For the snow flakes do you use a scattered round brush with size, angle and roundness jitter? When I looked at this I thought 'Ha! She uses the exact same brush for her snow as I do for my leaves! '

It's a scattered round brush, yes. With reduced roundness, but no size/angle jitter: size was set to pen pressure and angle to direction.

I had also used this technique for leaves initially!

Haha, no way! It's a neat little trick to have up one's sleeve for things like this, but when I use it I just set all the jitters to nearly maximum and have a play until it looks about right...

Hee hee. It kind of reminds me of daschund dog waiting for his master in the snow. I think I love it especially because it reminds me of a work my own mother did a long time ago when she was in high school with watercolor. She had a gift for textures, too.

Hehe - you're the second person to tell me they think it's a dog, not a fox. First time I drew a fox, though, so I guess I can be excused.

It's your fault for putting so much longing into his form! It definitely looks like a dog just waiting loyally for it's master. I think the body is a bit stocky for a fox, in all seriousness. But I love it none the less.

It's the stockiness most likely. Well, foxes in urban areas might get enough food, so who knows!
