(I suppose this goes in horror... I don't think psychadelic is appropiate...)
This was done at the request of She asked for Alice in Wonderland drawing that was a bit disturbing. Well, here you go. By no means gory, but a bit disturbing.
I think I attempted this drawing about four times and was never satisfied. And I think the problem with all my previous attempts was the symbolism I was putting behind them. I did a search on deviantart on Alice drawings, for some inspiration, and a lot of them were repetitive. Very repetitive. They normally have Alice in her teens, tall, a brunette and holding a bloody knife, with a half-assed background.
I sometimes think people forget what horror really is. I think Hitchcock put it best: "It's not the bang that scares people. It's the anticipation for it."
So, no, some girl standing on a checkered floor with a bloody knife in her hand isn't all that disturbing to me. What's creepy is what you don't know. So, I made this drawing while that was in my mind, alongside the original theme of Alice in Wonderland, which is to be consistently confused.
Here, we have a pre-teen Alice, missing her left leg, and is covered in scars, bruises and bandages. What happened to her leg, I won't say. You can figure it out.
To her left and our right, is a plate with dotted mushrooms. In case you don't know, dotted mushrooms are poisonous (so, yes, Super Mario should be dead). I can't decide whether she served herself that, and is trying to commit suicide, or someone else put it there, trying to kill her.
We have a transparent Creshire Cat, whose half-invisible. In the background are a few hills and broken monuments. A couple of dead trees, and loopy trees... a cloud with stripes, and a cloud that looks a lot like a giant leech in the sky. A lone, black butterfly....The sun is a spiral of black and white, and the sky looks like an old, cracked wall. So, is she outside, or inside?
There's a lot of crap going on in here. I think I've accomplished the confusing side of this. Hopefully, mitsukai is pleased.
