Four days ago I stumbled.

I fell into a dark abyss, I lost myself.

My mind became listless, ensnared.

Images of the end flitted through my hazy thoughts.

I welcomed them.

There was a blade, cold and sharp, severing.

The carpet would be beautiful when the crimson stained it.

The end would be beautiful.

I felt the blade between my fingers, real and ready.

I set it against my skin.

One quick movement and it would be over.

My fingers tensed.

Then an angel sat beside me.

The dark fled from the light.

I woke up.

I looked around, shocked and terrified at what I had almost done.

Two more angels joined the first.

I fought my lungs for air, they burned.

Tears flowed, hot and heavy.

The angels stayed beside me.

A gentle hand rested upon my head.

A warm arm settled around my shoulders.

I cried.

My heart ached with despair.

The angels never left me.
